WORSHIP IS TOTAL OBEDIENCE AND SURRENDER TO THE ETERNAL FATHER. IT IS OFFERING GOD OUR LIFE, NOT JUST A MOMENT.
THE HEART MANAGES WHAT IT LOVES.
21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
MATTHEW 6:21 (NIV)
DEVOTION IS A CONSTANT AND VOLUNTARY SURRENDER OF THE HEART TO GOD, MOTIVATED BY LOVE, NOT BY OBLIGATION; IT IS A POSTURE OF THE HEART.
DEVOTION IS NOT FELT FIRST, IT IS DECIDED FIRST.
TITHING SETS THE THRONE AND THE OFFERING POURS OUT THE PERFUME (GRATITUDE).
Six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany where Lazarus was, the one Jesus had raised from the dead. 2 So they gave a dinner for him there; Martha was serving them, and Lazarus was one of those reclining at the table with him. 3 Then Mary took a pound of perfume, pure and expensive nard, anointed Jesus’s feet, and wiped his feet with her hair. So the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. 4 Then one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot (who was about to betray him), said, 5 “Why wasn’t this perfume sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?” 6 He didn’t say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief. He was in charge of the money-bag and would steal part of what was put in it. 7 Jesus answered, “Leave her alone; she has kept it for the day of my burial. 8 For you always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.”
JOHN 12:1-8 (CSB)
THE OFFERING IS DIFFERENT: IT IS A VOLUNTARY GIFT, FOR LOVE, GRATITUDE, HONOR, SACRIFICE
WHENEVER WORSHIP IS POURED OUT, THERE WILL ALWAYS BE VOICES LIKE JUDAS THAT GET UPSET OR UNCOMFORTABLE.
WORSHIP THAT COSTS NOTHING NEVER BOTHERS ANYONE.
May the Lord answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you. 2 May he send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion. 3 May he remember all your sacrifices and accept your burnt offerings. 4 May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. 5 May we shout for joy over your victory and lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the Lord grant all your requests.
PSALM 20:1-5 (NIV)
THE PROBLEM IS NOT THE OFFERING OR THE TITHE BUT THE ATTITUDE OF THE HEART.
6Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
2 CORINTHIANS 9:6–8 (NIV)
OFFERING DOES NOT BUY GOD — HONOR GOD
THE OFFERING IS NOT MEASURED BY THE AMOUNT BUT BY THE SACRIFICE.
THE TITHE OPENS ORDER. OFFERING OPENS FRAGRANCE (GRATITUDE)
TODAY WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT QUANTITIES, WE ARE TALKING ABOUT HEARTS. BECAUSE GOD IS NOT LOOKING FOR WHAT COMES OUT OF YOUR HAND, BUT FOR WHAT GOVERNS YOUR LIFE.
TRUE DEVOTION IS NOT MEASURED BY EMOTION, BUT BY SURRENDER; AND WHEN THE HEART IS SURRENDERED, STEWARDSHIP FLOWS FREELY.
THE TITHE ESTABLISHES ORDER, BUT THE OFFERING POURS OUT LOVE; ONE PROCLAIMS LORDSHIP AND THE OTHER FILLS THE HOUSE WITH FRAGRANCE.
