WHAT WE BELIEVE
The Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired by God and are God’s revelation to humanity. They are the infallible and authoritative rule of faith and conduct.(2 Timothy 3:15-17; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Peter 1:21).
We believe in one true God, eternal, holy, sovereign, creator of heaven and earth, redeemer of humanity, and worthy of all worship. We believe that God has eternally revealed Himself in three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We do not believe in three gods, but in one God in essence, glory, power, and eternity. The Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God; equal in divinity, united in nature, and distinct in person and work.We believe in God the Father, creator of heaven and earth, eternal, holy, just, merciful, and full of love. He is the eternal Father in relationship with the eternal Son, not because the Son was created, but because the Son is eternally of the same essence, glory, and divinity as the Father. We believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was not created and had no beginning, but is eternal, fully God, and one with the Father. In His incarnation, He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross for our sins, rose bodily on the third day, ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. We believe that Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and humanity, and that there is no salvation, forgiveness, reconciliation, or access to the Father apart from Him.We believe that the Holy Spirit is God, the third person of the Trinity. He convicts the world of sin, regenerates the believer, dwells in the children of God, guides into all truth, sanctifies, comforts, empowers, and distributes spiritual gifts according to His will. The Christian life cannot be lived in our own strength, but only through the presence, guidance, and power of the Holy Spirit. We affirm the biblical doctrine of the Trinity and reject every teaching that denies the eternal distinction between the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, or that denies the full divinity, eternality, and personhood of any of the three divine persons.(Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 1:23; Matthew 3:16-17; Matthew 28:19; John 1:1-14; John 3:16; John 10:30; John 14:6-17; John 16:7-14; John 17:5; Acts 4:12; Romans 8:9-17; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Galatians 5:16-25; Colossians 1:15-17; 1 Timothy 2:5; Hebrews 1:1-3).
We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, truly God and truly man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross for our sins, rose bodily on the third day, ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. We believe that Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and humanity. There is no salvation, forgiveness, reconciliation, or access to the Father apart from Him. His sacrifice on the cross is sufficient, complete, and perfect to redeem humanity.(Matthew 1:23; John 14:6; Acts 4:12; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Timothy 2:5; Hebrews 1:3.)
We believe that humanity was created by God in His image and likeness, with dignity, purpose, and the capacity for relationship with the Creator. However, through humanity’s voluntary transgression, sin entered the world, bringing spiritual separation, moral corruption, and death. We believe that every human being needs the saving grace of God and that no one can be reconciled to God through their own works, merits, or personal righteousness.(Genesis 1:26-27; Genesis 3:1-7; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12-19; Ephesians 2:1-9).
We believe that God is sovereign, holy, just, and full of grace. We also believe that every human being is responsible before God for their response to the gospel. We affirm that salvation begins in the grace of God, is revealed in Christ, applied by the Holy Spirit, and received through faith. God calls, convicts, draws, and extends His mercy; every person must respond with repentance, faith, and obedience. We believe that God does not force love or produce mechanical obedience, but calls every person to freely respond to His grace. For this reason, we preach the gospel with urgency, inviting every person to come to Christ, repent, and receive eternal life.(Deuteronomy 30:19; Joshua 24:15; John 3:16; John 7:37; Acts 17:30; Romans 10:9-13; 1 Timothy 2:4; 2 Peter 3:9).
We believe that the only hope of redemption for humanity is found in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, through His shed blood, His substitutionary death on the cross, and His victorious resurrection. Salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, and not by human works, personal merit, or self-righteousness.We believe that God calls, convicts, and draws the sinner by the Holy Spirit; and that every person must respond to that call with repentance toward God, faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and surrender of the heart. Through the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, the believer is cleansed, justified by grace through faith, made a new creation, and made an heir of God according to the hope of eternal life.We believe that the grace of God does not cancel human responsibility. God offers life, calls people to repentance, and extends His grace; every person is responsible to respond with faith, surrender, and obedience. Salvation is not earned by works, but it does produce a transformed life that gives evidence of God’s work in the heart. The inward evidence of salvation is the direct witness of the Holy Spirit in the believer. The outward evidence before others is a life of righteousness, true holiness, obedience to God, and spiritual fruit.(Luke 24:47; John 3:3; John 3:16; John 6:44; Romans 8:16; Romans 10:9-15; Ephesians 2:8-10; Ephesians 4:24; Titus 2:11-12; Titus 3:5-7; 2 Peter 3:9).
WATER BAPTISMWe believe in water baptism by immersion as a biblical ordinance for every believer who has repented and placed their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.Baptism does not save, but it is a public declaration of faith, obedience, and identification with the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. Through baptism, the believer testifies that they have died to their old life and have been raised to walk in newness of life.(Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38; Acts 10:47-48; Romans 6:4).THE LORD’S SUPPERWe believe in the Lord’s Supper as an ordinance given by the Lord Jesus Christ to His Church. The bread and the fruit of the vine represent the body and blood of Christ, reminding us of His sacrifice, proclaiming His death, and affirming our hope in His return. We participate in the Lord’s Supper with reverence, gratitude, personal examination, and communion with the body of Christ.(Luke 22:19-20; 1 Corinthians 10:16-17; 1 Corinthians 11:23-29).CHILD DEDICATIONWe believe in the dedication of children to the Lord as a biblical and congregational practice in which parents, godparents, and the church recognize that children belong to God and commit to raising them in His ways.We do not practice infant baptism, because we understand biblical baptism to be a conscious response of repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. We present children to the Lord in prayer, consecration, and commitment, believing that God loves them, keeps them, and calls every generation to know Him.(1 Samuel 1:27-28; Luke 2:22; Mark 10:13-16; Deuteronomy 6:6-7; Proverbs 22:6).THE BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRITWe believe that all believers should desire and seek the fullness, filling, and baptism in the Holy Spirit, according to the promise of the Father and the teaching of the New Testament. This experience empowers the believer to live in holiness, testify of Christ, serve with boldness, and participate in the work of the Kingdom. We believe that speaking in other tongues is an important biblical manifestation and a primary sign associated with the baptism in the Holy Spirit, as seen in the book of Acts. However, we do not believe it is the only evidence of a Spirit-filled life. The fullness of the Spirit is also manifested through power to witness, love for Christ, reverence toward God, hunger for the Word, holiness, spiritual fruit, obedience, spiritual gifts, and passion for the lost.We encourage every believer to seek the gifts of the Spirit with humility, order, love, and submission to the Word of God.(Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4-8; Acts 2:1-4; Acts 10:44-46; Acts 19:1-6; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; 1 Corinthians 14:1-40; Galatians 5:22-23).PRAISE & WORSHIPWe believe that we were created to worship God in spirit and in truth. Worship belongs to God alone and must flow from a surrendered, reverent, and obedient heart. We believe that biblical praise is a living, reverent, and joyful expression that may include singing, prayer, thanksgiving, music, lifted hands, bowing, dancing, shouting, and other biblical expressions that exalt God and edify the Church. We believe that praise is not entertainment or empty emotionalism, but a response of faith, gratitude, reverence, and obedience to the greatness of God.(John 4:23-24; Psalm 95:1-6; Psalm 100:1-5; Psalm 150:1-6; Hebrews 13:15).SUPPORTING THE WORK: TITHES AND OFFERINGSWe believe that supporting the work of God is a spiritual responsibility of believers and an expression of worship, obedience, gratitude, covenant, and stewardship. We believe in the biblical practice of tithes and offerings as a way to honor God with our resources, support the work of ministry, care for the house of God, advance the preaching of the gospel, and serve the community.Jesus Himself, when speaking about tithes, did not dismiss them, but corrected the religious hypocrisy of those who tithed while neglecting justice, mercy, and faith. For this reason, we believe that tithes and offerings should not be practiced as empty legalism, but with a just, generous, joyful, and surrendered heart before God.(Malachi 3:10; Matthew 23:23; Luke 11:42; 1 Corinthians 9:13-14; 2 Corinthians 9:6-8; Proverbs 3:9-10).
We believe that the gifts of the Holy Spirit continue to be active today for the edification of the Church, the confirmation of the gospel, and ministry to the people of God. We believe in the biblical manifestations of the Holy Spirit, including the word of wisdom, the word of knowledge, faith, gifts of healings, miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, various kinds of tongues, and interpretation of tongues. We believe that every spiritual manifestation must glorify Christ, edify the Church, produce holy fruit, and remain in harmony with the Word of God.(Mark 16:17-20; Acts 2:17-18; Romans 12:6-8; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; 1 Corinthians 14:26; 1 Thessalonians 5:19-21).
We believe that every believer is called to live a life of holiness, separation from sin, and dedication to God. Sanctification is the work of the Holy Spirit in us and also a daily response of obedience, surrender, and spiritual discipline. We believe that the grace of God is not permission to live in sin, but power to live a transformed life.(Romans 12:1-2; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; Hebrews 12:14; 1 Peter 1:15-16; Galatians 2:20).
We believe that the Church is the body of Christ, the dwelling place of God by the Holy Spirit, and God’s instrument to proclaim the gospel, make disciples, worship the Father, equip the saints, and serve the community with love and compassion. As Faith Unlimited Church, we affirm our calling to be a healing, praising, equipping, and empowering church, reaching all generations with the love of Christ.(Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 2:42-47; Ephesians 1:22-23; Ephesians 4:11-16; Hebrews 10:24-25).
A divinely called and scripturally ordained ministry has been provided by our Lord for the fourfold purpose of leading the Church in: (1) evangelization of the world (Mark 16:15-20), (2) worship of God (John 4:23,24), (3) building a Body of saints being perfected in the image of His Son (Ephesians 4:11,16), and (4) Meeting human need with ministries of love and compassion (Psalms 112:9; Galatians 2:10; 6:10; James 1:27).
We believe that Jesus Christ heals, delivers, and works miracles according to His will, compassion, and power. Divine healing is part of the testimony of the gospel and an expression of the Kingdom of God.We believe that the Church should pray for the sick in faith, lay hands on the sick, anoint with oil when appropriate, and trust in the authority of Christ. We also believe that God can work through supernatural means, processes, medical wisdom, and pastoral care. Our ultimate trust is in the goodness, sovereignty, and power of God.(Isaiah 53:4-5; Matthew 8:16-17; Mark 16:18; Acts 10:38; James 5:14-16).
The resurrection of those who have fallen asleep in Christ and their translation together with those who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord is the imminent and blessed hope of the Church (1 Thessalonians 4:16,17; Romans 8:23; Titus 2:13; 1 Corinthians 15:51,52).
There will be a final judgment in which the wicked dead will be raised and judged according to their wor ks. Whosoever is not found written in the Book of Life, together with the devil and his angels, the beast and the false prophet, will be consigned to everlasting punishment in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone, which is the second death (Matthew 25:46; Mark 9:43-48; Revelation 19:20; 20:11- 15; 21:8).
The second coming of Christ includes the rapture of the saints, which is our blessed hope, followed by the visible return of Christ with His saints to reign on the earth for one thousand years (Zechariah 14:5; Matthew 24:27,30; Revelation 1:7; 19:11-14; 20:1-6). This millennial reign will bring the salvation of national Israel (Ezekiel 37:21,22; Zephaniah 3:19,20; Romans 11:26,27) and the establishment of universal peace (Isaiah 11:6-9; Psalm 72:3-8; Micah 4:3,4).
“We, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness” (2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 21,22).
